The IVF process

Build the treatment timeline before you build the travel itinerary.

A real plan is individualized. This framework helps you organize questions from first consultation through follow-up without assuming every patient follows the same sequence.

01

Records & consultation

Share relevant history directly with the clinical team through its secure process. Ask what prior testing is usable and what must be repeated.

02

Testing & plan

The provider should explain the working diagnosis, proposed pathway, medication/monitoring plan and any unresolved questions.

03

Stimulation & monitoring

If ovarian stimulation is part of the plan, monitoring and medication adjustments are individualized by the treating team.

04

Retrieval & laboratory work

When applicable, eggs are retrieved and the embryology team carries out the planned fertilization and culture steps.

05

Transfer or freezing

The team may discuss fresh transfer, frozen transfer at a later time, embryo freezing or another pathway depending on the plan.

06

Follow-up

Before you leave, know what testing is needed next, which medications continue, whom to contact, and how local care at home fits in.

Travel timing

Biology does not care about your non-refundable ticket.

International patients should explicitly ask how much date flexibility is needed. If treatment timing can shift based on cycle response or test results, build that uncertainty into flights, accommodation and work plans.

Do not use a generic online timeline as your medical schedule. Your treating team should give you the actual dates and contingency plan.
